Working of a Potato Harvester Machine

It is a 2 row machine having spacing between them. Two ridges are lifted simultanously by two rotating discs and deposited on first sieve conveyor where most of the loose soil drops back to the ground. After passing through the first sieve conveyor, the crop runs through rubber rollers which breaks down the clods.

The crop is then deposited on second sieve conveyor while further soil is removed. Meanwhile, potatoes get transported further. The rubber lining is fixed on sieve bars to protect damage to this vegetable. At the  end of conveyor, crop passes into widely meshed haulm separating chains whiuch is equipped with rubber padded tines and cross tubes to throw off the green trash at the rear of the machine.

A rotating deliovery roller between second sieve conveyor and haul separator prevents blockage and potato losses. The potatoes drop through the haulm separating chain into the 1st rubber tine presorting belt. The graders divide the potatoes into 2 categories:

  • Large for human consumption
  • Small for use as fodder

The small potatoes fall into the belt conveyor for sorting manually. Aftert the sorting operation, they fall in the portion of belt conveyor carried through elevator and deposited in tank.

Good potatoes are picked by conveyor and passed on to the elevator and then into the trailer which works by side of machine by a separate tractor. The potato harvester machine can be used for wide variety of crops including sweet potatoes.
